GEORGE NEWS - The situation at the landfill site out on the Old Airport Road has not changed since yesterday, when the site was reopened to the public.
The George Fire Services continue to dampen down a smouldering fire on the site.
“(Those members of) the public who enter the landfill site must apply caution. The teams are still suppressing smoke as well,” says media liaison officer Debra Sauer.
The fire services have been monitoring the fire closely. Its cause is as yet unknown.
