GEORGE NEWS - The family of Akhona Mlinganiso, the deceased man from Thembalehtu whose body was found floating in a river, has been found.
This comes after the police sent out a press release last week Thursday, 7 April, asking for assistance from the public regarding the family's whereabouts. The very next day, Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, confirmed that the family had been found.
Mlinganiso's body was found in a river in Zone 6 between Thembalethu and Pacaltsdorp on 11 November 2021.
His corpse had decomposed and he was identified through his fingerprints.
The Thembalethu detectives expressed their gratitude towards the media and community who rapidly responded to the call to find his relatives.
"Based on the media report, the family came forward and liaised with the investigation officer who will now finalise the investigation," said Pojie.
