GEORGE NEWS - As the only university in the world that carries the name of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) embraces Nelson Mandela's challenge to be "caring, responsible and innovative", and recognises the importance of continuously growing and adapting in the pursuit of knowledge, emancipation and lifelong learning, says Alet van Tonder, the spokesperson for the George campus.
With over 27 000 students enrolled at seven different campuses - six in Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth) and one in George, students are spoilt for choice, having access to qualifications in seven faculties.
Van Tonder says the George Campus with its spectacular natural surroundings offers a variety of courses in science, business and IT. "We also brag with relatively small classes and individual attention to students. There's a wide range of student services and support facilities with free shuttle service, social and cultural activities, not to mention the range of sports codes, associations and societies. This presents an ideal space to spend your student years, offering all the advantages of city living in a friendly and safe environment."
Learners and other prospective students who would like to study at NMU next year are advised to finalise and submit their applications for early admission before the 2 August closing date.
If you need more information on the application process, visit the university's website, mandela.ac.za/application, or contact the admissions office in George, George.admissions@mandela.ac.za.
