GEORGE NEWS - The first Western Cape Inter-region Cup chess tournament took place the weekend of 4 to 6 March.
The host for this prestigious event was West Coast and the event was held in Saldanha Bay.
The regions that took part are West Coast, Western Province, Cape Winelands, Eden, Overberg and Central Karoo. Eden was presented by 15 players with their manager Pravin Meyer, who left George on Friday morning to take part. Everyone enjoyed the tough chess challenge and Eden fought hard in every round.
The junior team came second and received the silver medal. The senior team came third and received the bronze medal.
The ladies team came fourth, just missing out on the bronze medal.
The Eden Federation congratulates the Eden Teams for their excellent performance and thanks Pravin Meyer who accompanied them.
