GEORGE NEWS FLASH AND VIDEO - The operational team of George Civil Engineering started this week with final repairs of a road in Blanco following two more pipe bursts last week.
The damage to Fortuin Street has been estimated at R350 000.
According to Chantel Edwards-Klose, media liaison officer of George Municipality, three civil engineering teams worked throughout the night last Wednesday to repair the latest two bursts earlier that day.
Tar pieces were scattered over Fortuin Street after the incident. The bursts resulted in limited water supply to certain areas and affected the filling of the upper (Eskom) reservoir.
Water trucks from both George and Eden District Municipality continued filling the upper reservoir throughout the night on Wednesday.
