GEORGE NEWS - A police constable (28) was released on R500 bail in the George Magistrate's Court last Thursday after he was arrested in the early hours of that morning.
The suspect, who works at the George Police Station, was arrested at his house in Pacaltsdorp after he allegedly kicked down the front door.
His estranged wife currently lives in the house.
It is unclear at this stage what led to last week's incident but according to information the George Herald received, the couple has been separated for some months.
There had previously been incidents of domestic violence, alleged assaults and attempts to obtain a protection order.
The constable is scheduled to appear in court again on 15 December.
He faces charges of housebreaking and assault with the intent to cause grievious bodily harm (GHB) relating to a previous incident which is now being investigated.
