GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality was recently made aware that the memorial plaques removed from Victoria Bay (ground under ownership of Garden Route District Municipality) by persons unknown were left lying on the ground at the entrance to the resort.
Subsequently, out of respect, the items were collected and are being stored at the Municipal Community Services Offices at 82 Meade Street.
Family members are kindly requested to collect the items within the next 30 days, with the deadline for collection being 7 December 2020.
See below a list of the items showing the names of the deceased together with photographs of the plaques.
We ask that you make contact with Hilton Spies at Community Services , 044 8022900 or hspies@george.gov.za to make arrangements for collection.
Should the items not be collected within the 30 days, please note they will collectively be placed into a wooden chest and buried in the George Cemetery.
