GEORGE NEWS - George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) investigators arrested a 27-year-old man on Friday 6 May in connection with the rape of an eight-year-old girl in Protea Street, Pacaltsdorp, earlier last week.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the child was allegedly playing inside her father’s home when the suspect, who stays in a shack in the back of the yard, called her. “He then allegedly raped her and sent her back to play," said Pojie.
The child's mother became suspicious, and when she asked the child, the child said she was violated by the suspect.
After reporting it to police, the suspect was arrested and is scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on a charge of rape later today, Monday 9 May.
