Update
GEORGE NEWS - A Shoprite Group spokesperson, confirmed this morning that Checkers St George’s Square was closed on Sunday 14 June, following confirmation of a staff member at its store testing positive for Covid-19.
“We brought in a professional decontamination company to sanitise and deep-clean this store and an employee screening programme supported by the company’s mobile clinic was put into place for all staff. Where necessary, those with close contact are now self-quarantining for 14 days.”
The spokesperson said they work closely with the various authorities and the store reopened during the course of yesterday, Tuesday 16 June, in consultation with the Provincial Department of Health.
Anybody with a temperature higher than 37,5°C is immediately referred to one of the group’s mobile clinics for further consultation. Where a mobile clinic isn't available, employees are referred to the nearest clinic.
Independent health practitioners are employed in their own mobile clinics and do the consultation and referrals.
