Update
GEORGE NEWS - A service provider for the George Municipality recycling contract has already been chosen, and the blue bag programme will resume as soon as the last of the red tape is out of the way.
According to municipal manager Trevor Botha, the tender appointment letter has been signed off and tenderers will be notified of the bid adjudication committee (BAC) allocation shortly, after which a 14-day appeal period applies.
"If no appeals are received, or once appeals have been addressed, the successful tenderer will be notified in writing, and the tenderer must sign and return the letter of acceptance."
Botha said the municipality will make a formal announcement when all processes have been completed and the logistics for the delivery of the blue bag service have been finalised.
