GEORGE NEWS - A blood donation drive hosted by Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) on Monday 17 July was well attended by employees of the municipality, as well as members of the public.
This initiative was the GRDM's early contribution towards Mandela Day, held on Tuesday 18 July.
Of the 60 people who wished to participate in the drive, a total of 50 blood donations were made.
"Some individuals could not donate, due to their iron levels," said head of communiciations Herman Pieters.
"We've had two blood donation sessions before, but this time we invited the public to donate blood as well," said Pieters.
"We hope to reach 100 donations next time. Some people did not want to donate because of socialising over the weekend, so we intend to hold a similar session on a Wednesday next time. We were still impressed with the number of people who turned up."
