GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Employees at the Cape Access Centres in the Garden Route District have been trained by the Western Cape Health Department to assist residents to register for their Covid-19 vaccine.
Over-60s are invited to visit these centres if they are unable to register on the EVDS (electronic vaccination data system) by themselves.
Cape Access Centres make internet technology available to Western Cape residents free of charge, especially in rural areas where access is needed.
Centres in the Garden Route include:
- Mossel Bay Thusong Centre and Mossel Bay Indoor Sport Centre
- New Horizons Library, Simunye Thusong Centre and Central Library New Horizons in Plettenberg Bay
- Thembalethu Thusong Centre, Thembalethu Library, Conville Library
- Waboomskraal Thusong Centre, SAB Hop Farms
- Slangrivier municipal building
- Riversdale Thusong Service Centre
- Great Brak River (Hibiscus Avenue)
- Hornlee, Knysna (1 Vigilance Drive)
- Prince Albert Environmental Building E-Centre

To register on the EVDS, visit www.westerncape.gov.za and click on the link, or dial *134*832# and follow the prompts (free on all South African networks), or WhatsApp the word REGISTER to 0600 123456.
If you are over 60 and registered for your Covid-19 vaccine, you can expect:
- An SMS confirming your registration.
- A second SMS later with appointment details of the date and the place.
- To get vaccinated with your first dose.
- Proof of vaccination card.
- An appointment date for your second dose.
Walk-ins not permitted
On the scheduled day, take your ID and present the second SMS. Arrive on the scheduled day of your booking, not on a different day. Walk-ins are not permitted.
