GEORGE NEWS - A tip-off from a Thembalethu community member led to the arrest of an alleged armed robber on Tuesday 19 February.
According to Captain Dumile Gwavu of Thembalethu police station, they received information from an anonymous person about a man who used a firearm to rob people at night.
"The police rushed to the scene and searched the house. They found a toy gun, two cellphones, five rounds of ammunition, three vehicle radios and two knives in a backpack. The suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and illegal possession of ammunition and will appear in court soon," he said.
Acting station commander, Lt-Col Mteto Sapepa, thanked the community for their tip-offs.
"Without their cooperation this success could not be achieved. I urge the community to continue to report all illegal firearms and all criminal activities taking place in the area," he said.
