GEORGE NEWS - The man accused of the brutal murder of the eight-year-old Imange Jantjies from Thembalethu, appeared in the Thembalethu Circuit High Court on Wednesday 17 August. 

The accused, Zipho Nqoko (23), will make his next appearance in the high court on Wednesday 21 October.

Nqoko, who was also the child's mother's partner, was arrested on 19 August 2021. The murder was allegedly preceded by a domestic altercation between the couple.

It is believed that the suspect took the child to a shack where he stabbed him multiple times.

The couple turned up at the Thembalethu police station at about 18:30 on the evening of the murder with disturbing allegations that the suspect had killed the boy.

Police were immediately dispatched to Nqoko's home in Zone 7, where they found the boy who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his little body. He was already dead when police and emergency services arrived.

Nqoko abandoned his bail application and has been in custody since his arrest.
