GEORGE NEWS - Blanco now has a brand-new destination for building materials, hardware and everyday household products, with the opening of Build It Blanco this week.
The store promises a one-stop shopping experience for locals and surrounding communities alike.
The store is the result of a partnership between leading names in the Build It family. The owners of Build It Mossel Bay and Build It Oudtshoorn, Pieter Coetzer and Dykhard Laage, joined forces with the owners of Build It Outeniqua, Gerrit Roux and Fanie van Wyk, to make Build It Blanco a reality.
The land was purchased in 2022 and the application for Build It membership submitted in 2023. Since then, the team has worked to create a modern, well-stocked store to meet the needs of Blanco and the surrounding areas.
“We recognised a real demand in the market for a comprehensive building material, hardware and household product offering here in Blanco,” said Van Wyk.
Community involvement remains at the heart of the business. Over the years, the Build It team has supported a range of initiatives in the areas where their stores operate, including schools, churches and animal welfare organisations. Approximately 50% of their staff are also local residents from the area.
The Build It Blanco team is made up largely of people from Blanco and nearby communities, reflecting the owners’ commitment to local growth and opportunity.
“We are excited to build new relationships and serve the community of Blanco, the surrounding areas and greater George,” Van Wyk added.
Former Springbok rugby player Heinrich Brüssow was one of the lucky prize winners.
With shelves stocked with building materials, hardware, and everyday household products, it’s your new one-stop shop in Blanco.
The store was opened at 07:00 this morning.
