GEORGE NEWS - George police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a man was discovered in the forest near Barkhuizen Drive in George, on Sunday 21 September, around midday.
Barkhuizen Drive is in the King George Park residential area.
According to reports, members of the public alerted authorities after making the grim discovery.
On arrival, police found the man’s body with a belt around the neck. The remains were already in a state of decomposition, but documents found at the scene provided leads regarding his possible identity.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies confirmed the discovery, saying the identity of the deceased is yet to be formally established.
