GEORGE NEWS - Cupcakes of Hope will be hosting South Africa's seventh National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer on 29 September. It is a community driven project where Cupcake Angels 'bake' a difference in the lives of children with cancer.
Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit company (NPC 2012/103028/08) and public benefit organisation (PBO 930053726) started by Sandy Cipriano in 2012. Their mission is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for kids with cancer who are in need of medical and financial assistance.
They do this predominantly through their love of baking cupcakes.
Cupcakes of Hope assists up to 70 cancer patients every month by paying towards their medical treatments or other day-to-day expenses like food, clothing and transport for hospital visits. All of the cancer patients go through a stringent registration process, which includes the submission of doctors' letters specifying their diagnosis.
They ask volunteers (also known as Cupcake Angels) to "bake" a difference in the lives of their cancer warriors. Cipriano says, "The only requirement to become a Cupcake Angel is that your cupcakes must be made with love. Our Cupcake Angels range from as young as three to 90 years old, from pupils to lawyers and pensioners."
Becoming a Cupcake Angel is by far the sweetest way to save a life!
