GEORGE NEWS - This coming Saturday, 3 March, is going to be a special day as two very special frisbee or disc golf players will be playing in a pro-am tournament at the Garden Route Frisbee Course, which is centred in the beautiful Garden Route Botanical Garden in Caledon Street.
One of the players is from South Africa and the other from the USA.
The tournament will start at 10:00 and will be preceded at 09:00 by an informational instruction time for anyone interested in finding out more about the game.
According to Philip DeVries, shareholder chairman at Garden Route Film Studios, "Frisbee Golf is an extremely popular game in many parts of the world, particularly in the USA and Europe, and there are many Frisbee Golf Courses on our continent".
The sport has proved popular among young and old and is very family-oriented. It is also a great activity for team-building among businesses.

The game was brought to George by DeVries, who, together with the current chairman of the botanical garden Roger Bath, set out the challenging 2,2km-course in the garden.
The game is played on a course with 18 holes, using rules similar to golf.
While most courses use nets as goals, in our area poles are used as the target, as well as specially made discs.
Anybody interested in attending this amazing event can contact Philip DeVries on 072 634 5363 / 044 873 6601.
