GEORGE NEWS - Over 400 of York High School's top performers were acknowledged at the school's annual prize-giving and Valedictory Ceremony that took place on Thursday and Friday, 11 and 12 October respectively.
Trophies, book prizes and certificates in the various fields of Academics, Sport, Culture, Service and Special Awards were presented to the worthy recipients.
In his headmaster's address Francois Moll covered many of the highlights achieved by the learners during what he called an 'amazing year', and culminating in the announcement of the School Dux, Marguerite Herbst, and School Secundus, Matthew Johnstone.
At the Valedictory Ceremony, emotions were stirred and many a tearful eye was seen as the outgoing head boy and head girl bade their farewells on behalf of the 2018 matrics, before they embark on their matric exams, the final lap of their school careers.
York High also congratulated the new student leaders for 2019, who were announced at the Valedictory Ceremony.
