GEORGE NEWS - The bodies of a 42-year old woman and a 5-year-old girl were found in a house in Thembalethu, Zone 7 this afternoon, Wednesday 11 July.
It is believed that the woman and child died from smoke inhalation after a drum with burning coal was placed in their room before they went to sleep last night.
According to Thembalethu Police communications officer, Captain Dumile Gwavu, the two were last seen last night when the woman was taking the drum of coal at about 22:00.
“The deceased's son kicked the door of the house down at about 17:00 this afternoon and found them dead on the bed. The police are investigating an inquest docket,” said Gwavu
He added that the names of the deceased cannot yet be named as their families still need to be informed.
