GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - A wildfire is currently active in the mountainous area in De Hoop, northwest of Haarlem.
The wildfire poses no threat to infrastructure or human life and is mostly inaccessible by foot.
The current weather conditions are favourable for firefighters. Firefighters are assisted by local farmers and farm workers on the scene. Monitoring if the fire lines will also continue throughout the evening into the early morning hours.
The GRDM’s Fire Services plan to set up a counter-fire (backburn) from tomorrow morning in order to prevent the wildfire from spreading further.
