GEORGE NEWS - Despite the freezing cold and rain, 76 volunteers turned out on Saturday 28 August to collect money at various points in Wilderness and George for the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA).
Hit by a devastating fire in May, the Conville-based PDSA has remained open, treating sick and injured animals from the poorest parts of our community.
Thanks to supportive managers at Checkers, Eden Meander Lifestyle Centre, Golden Harvest, Kloppers, Pet and Pool Warehouse, Pick n Pay, Spar and Van Rensburgs - and their generous shoppers - the volunteers raised an amazing R24 440.
"On behalf of the staff, and of course the needy animals that we treat every day, thank you to everyone who supported us on Saturday," said PDSA manager Moira Gibbs.
"We rely on donations, so this is a great boost. And thank you to Deb Patrick and Dawn de Beer for their hard work organising the collection."
