GEORGE NEWS - Following a shooting incident in Thembalethu last night, Sunday 23 May, Eden Cluster Commander Maj-Gen Oswald Reddy has launched an activation plan to assist the investigation team.
Preliminary investigation shows that at about 19:25 last night, the seven victims were having a gathering outside a residence in Asazani, Zone 6, when unidentified gunmen started shooting at them. It appears that all seven were hit.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie said a firearm that might have been used during the shooting incident was confiscated for evidence.
"Investigation into the matter is still at an early stage with limited and sketchy information at our disposal. However, an attempted murder docket was opened for further investigation. We anticipate making a breakthrough soon with possible arrests that are on the cards," he said.
