GEORGE NEWS - The Western Cape Education Department has confirmed that five staff members have tested positive at Parkdene Primary School.
The department was informed immediately after the first staff member's positive test was confirmed.
"I have confirmed that the claims that the principal did not inform staff, is untrue. The WCED also received the certificate once it was confirmed," said Bronagh Hammond, director of communications.
"The Grade 7 block was cleaned following confirmation of a teacher that tested positive. The school has followed the necessary protocols," she said.
