Premier Winde calls on Western Cape to be safe over the weekend amid the resurgence
The Western Cape is experiencing a resurgence in COVID-19 cases and I call on all residents to practice the safe behaviours that they have learnt over the past year to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Our behaviour will determine when the third wave starts and will affect our healthcare system’s ability to respond. Together, we can flatten the curve and lessen its impact.
We can do this by washing and sanitizing our hands regularly, wearing our masks correctly and maintaining a safe social distance.
At the same time, we must continue to avoid the 3 Cs which include crowded spaces, close contact and confined spaces. If you are meeting with friends and family over the weekend, please keep gatherings short, small and outdoors, where possible.
Another important way that we can fight back against COVID-19 is by registering for your vaccine if you are eligible, and, if not, ensuring that those around you who are eligible get registered.
To register for the vaccine, you will need to visit: https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/#/.
This portal can also be found via www.westerncape.gov.za
You can also dial *134*832# and follow the prompts (FREE on all South African Networks), or Whatsapp the word REGISTER to 0600 123456.
Should you need assistance with the registration process, do not hesitate to visit www.sacoronavirus.co.za/evds/support/ or call our call centre on 0860 142 142.
The time has for us to fight back. #LetsDoThis Western Cape.
