Update

GEORGE NEWS - A 27-year-old man is expected to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder today, Tuesday 17 October.

This follows an attack on an off-duty firefighter, Warwick Fischer (33), at his home in Borcherds on Sunday.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, initial information indicates that Fischer was accosted while he was closing the gate to the entrance of his home in Bruce Street at about 05:20.

He sustained stab wounds to his neck and back during what is believed to be an attempted robbery and managed to get into his vehicle in an attempt to drive himself to hospital.

However, on his way to hospital, he allegedly lost consciousness and crashed into a house in Krogh Street. He was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was declared dead on arrival.
