GEORGE NEWS - Carl van Blerk, founder and manager of the Garden Route Food Pantry, has been honoured by the Lions organisation with the Louis Volks Humanitarian award.
Dr Louis Volks introduced the Lions to South Africa in 1957.
Van Blerk says Volks was a true humanitarian with a vision to touch as many lives as possible through service.
"Due to his achievements and passion, the Louis Volks Award was created to honour either a Lion or any member of the public, who has shown humanitarian spirit in changing lives. It is the highest award that the country has to offer through Lions Clubs International, and it is such a privilege to have been selected. It truly is an honour."
