GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu Police have activated a 72-hour plan through the mobilisation of specialised units and forensic experts who have been combing a murder scene since yesterday, Wednesday 13 July, after the death of the 37-year-old Sifiso Lloyd Nkohla.
Nkohla seemingly died in a hail of bullets in his shack in the back of a yard in Teyise Street in Zone 9, Thembalethu, yesterday evening, according to Southern Cape police spokesperson Capt Malcolm Pojie.
Pojie said police members were dispatched to the house at about 19:45 last night after being alerted by family members who had heard shots being fired in the back of their yard. "Members then found the body of the deceased in the doorway of the one-room shack with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He had already succumbed to the injuries sustained and was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene."
Pojie said forensic experts and detectives combed the scene for clues and evidence that can assist with the investigation. They confiscated a number of empty casings as well as projectiles found on the scene.
"This evidence will be subjected to ballistic tests. The circumstances surrounding the incident as well as the possible motive form part of the investigation."
Police have opened a murder docket that will be probed by Thembalethu detectives.
The police appeals to anyone with information to contact the investigation officer, W/O Esmeralda Jackson on 044 802 8900, 078 223 8278 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be dealt with confidentially.
