GEORGE NEWS - A brand-new internet youth radio station called Swagg Radio will be launched in George with a modelling competition. A sizeable cash prize will be a drawcard for "The Face of Swagg Model search 2018", which will see aspirant models making their debut on stage.
The competition will culminate in the crowning ceremony on 2 June at the Conville Civic Centre.
Fernando Hernandez and his partners Santana Moses and Mindré Gelderbloem believe there is a definite opening in the market for a radio station that is solely focused on school children and young adults.
Their broadcasting hours are therefore tailored to commence when school is out. Fernando, a former Eden FM radio presenter, said, "We aim to start broadcasting in June this year and in the meantime, we will stage pre-launch events to create interest and build up pre-launch excitement."
Young females aged 15 to 18 are encouraged to enter the competition. Naturally, all sexes are invited to get involved with the radio broadcasting, news gathering and administration work!

There is a R100 entry fee. Entries can be done via WhatsApp on 083 465 9989 (no calls). Registration and payment must be done two hours prior to the event and will happen at the respective venues and dates.
Dates of the preliminary rounds are: 25 April - Pacaltsdorp Civic; 26 April - Rosemoor Civic; 4 May - Conville Civic; 5 May - Parkdene Civic; Final on 2 June - Conville Civic.
