GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO | HESSEQUA NEWS - The Restaurants Association of South Africa (Rasa) is still awaiting clarity regarding the regulations pertaining to the reopening of the restaurant industry.
This a week after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that they are allowed to reopen following lockdown.
Rasa chairperson Wendy Alberts said in a communique to members last night (Thursday 25 June) that they have received the regulations but that they are "regrettably" very vague and not what they expected.
The portion that pertains to the industry is S4(1)l and states, "...restaurants, subject to the strict adherence to all health protocols and social distancing measures as provided for in directions that must be issued by the responsible Cabinet member, after consultation with the Cabinet member responsible for health".
"This merely passes the buck from the NCCC ( National Coronavirus Command Council) to the minister of Tourism. Our attorneys, Mooney Ford, will be writing to the minister requesting the immediate release of these directions," said Alberts.
