SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - According to Eden District Municipality spokesperson, Herman Pieters, there are now only two smouldering fires in the Hessequa area.
These will be attended to by Eden District Municipality and other teams.
"A Huey helicopter will be on standby in Stilbaai," said Pieters. "There are currently 30 firefighters in the area; relay teams will be rotated every 12 hours until Monday.
"A strong north-northwest wind has been predicted for Sunday evening," added Pieters.
"High-risk areas that could be affected by the wind have been identified and will be safeguarded."
Hessequa firefighters, Eden District Municipality firefighters, Working on Fire, Southern Cape Fire Protection Association, National Sea Rescue Institute and local farmers are involved in fighting the fire that has raged since Friday.
