GEORGE NEWS - A well-known singer and fond favourite from George, Feff Gericke, was very relieved and thankful after his car, that was stolen on Saturday, was recovered the very next day.
The car, a Volvo XC60, had Gericke's bread and butter - his musical equipment and instruments - inside when it was stolen just after 20:00 near Tarantino's in Courtenay Street on Saturday 29 July. The car was recovered in Riversdale the following day.
Gericke had only good things to say about the police officers and everyone who helped him to find his car.
"The service I got from the George and Riversdale police, the neighbourhood watches and the people who did the tracking was absolutely brilliant. I also want to thank the community and everyone who posted on Facebook. I can't single anyone out. Everyone was fantastic. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The whole community stood together and it just made it too hard for these guys to get away," he said.

Members of the George and Riversdale police, farm and neighbourhood watches and local security companies combined resources in pursuit of the Volvo when they spotted the vehicle travelling along the N2 from the direction of Still Bay to Riversdale on Sunday 30 July.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the vehicle, confirmed to be Gericke's, was pulled over at a petrol station at the entrance to Riversdale.
The car was confiscated and upon searching the vehicle and the suspects, police found small quantities of tik and heroin on the driver (38). All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property. The driver was also charged with possession of drugs.
But it didn't end there. According to Spies, further investigation took the Flying Squad and Garden Route District Crime Combatting Team (CCT) members to a house in Adriaan Street, Mossel Bay.
"A search of the residence led to the recovery of various items, including music instruments and sound equipment, that had been stolen from the vehicle," said Spies.
All the suspects remain in police custody. They were expected to make their first court appearance in the Riversdale Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 1 August.
