GEORGE NEWS - The three prisoners who escaped from custody this afternoon have been apprehended.
The prisoners were being transported in a police truck from Mossel Bay to George when they escaped from the vehicle along the N2 highway near Glentana earlier today, Monday 20 September.
One of the three was arrested shortly after the escape and the others were arrested in the Hoogekraal area earlier this evening.
Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and the arrests.
Pojie said that acting Eden Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phumzile Cetyana, was also part of the search.
“Brigadier Cetyana, who also participated in the search thanked his members as well as members of the public who assisted them. He gave special thanks to two members of the public who assisted the police by using their drones to search for two of the suspects,” he said.
