GEORGE NEWSFLASH - In a tightly contested competition on Friday afternoon, four primary scholar patrol teams showed the George Traffic Department how committed they are to the safety of their fellow scholars.
Conville Primary Team B walked away with the winning cup for the 2017 Scholar Patrol Competition with a narrow margin, highlighting the excellent quality of the competing schools.
Second was Delville Park Primary, third St Marys Primary and fourth New Dawn Park Primary.
Each school entered two teams.
The competition started with a squad inspection by the judges which includes a thorough inspection of uniform as well as a whistle inspection, an inspection by the captain and then a practical test with the teams showing their paces.
Executive Mayor, Melvin Naik personally greeted each member of the scholar patrol teams.
Stopping traffic was part of the drill and they had to allow willing school friends and the Mayor of George, Melvin Naik - to cross the road under the watchful eye of the judges for the day,
Superintendent Junies, Drivers Licence; Assistant Superintendent Rasi and Assistant Superintendent Hanase.
