MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Locals who had their eyes on the horizon on Tuesday 24 November, caught a glimpse of the Deepsea Stavanger as it left Mossel Bay.
According to previous reports, the rig platform arrived in Mossel Bay on 21 August ahead of its deployment to the Outeniqua Basin. The basin is situated off the coast of Mossel Bay, where energy giant, Total, discovered gas condensate in 2019.
Tersia Marais, freelance photographer for the Mossel Bay Advertiser, George Herald's sister publication, managed to get the clear photograph of the impressive Deepsea Stavanger.
Owned by The Odfjell Group, the Deepsea Stavanger is a sixth-generation deep water and harsh environment semi-submersible with an overall length of 118,6 metres and width of 96,7 metres.
