GEORGE NEWS - The murder trial of local taxi owner Tom Queba (47) will start in the Circuit High Court in George on 26 October and will proceed until 20 November.
Queba, a chief negotiator for the taxi industry regarding the GO GEORGE bus service, was shot in the head inside his minibus taxi on 25 May 2014 on the N2 highway near Thembalethu.
His alleged shooter, Zanemale Laho (32), from Thembalethu, was arrested in June last year. He faces charges of murder, theft, and possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Laho is currently serving a 15 year prison sentence for another murder that occurred in 2011.
Laho and his co-accused in that case, Khayelihle Vena, were sentenced in the Thembalethu Regional Court in November 2014 after they were found guilty of the murder of Jerome Dekella.
Dekella's naked body was found near the pedestrian bridge across the N2 highway near Lawaaikamp on 4 December 2011.
