GEORGE NEWS - A group of residents are burning tyres at Fourways stop in Thembalethu.
The station commander of Thembalethu, Colonel Douw Herbst, says they suspect that the illegal protest action could have been triggered by the removal of illegal electricity connections this morning.
Herbst said the police are monitoring the situation and that more police have been deployed in the area. According to reports, it sounded like police fired several stun grenades a while ago.
Motorists are advised that the N2 between the Pacaltsdorp offramp and Garden Route Mall offramp is closed until further notice.
