GEORGE NEWS - The George Open Gardens will be held on Saturday 11 November from 09:00 to 16:00.
This year there are two gardens in the farmlands area and three inside retirement villages, plus some very centrally situated ones with elements of surprise.
A R50 ticket provides access to 10 lovely gardens, most of which have not been viewed before by garden enthusiasts.
Tickets can be obtained this week at the Badisa offices at 60 Victoria Street as well as at Fairview Homestead, 36 Stander Street.
The proceeds will go towards Badisa, a non-profit organisation that provides social services to families in need.
The gardens are not numbered in any order - you may visit as many as you have time for.
Numbers 1 and 2 are on the Western side of George; numbers 3 to 7 are on the eastern side of town and 8 to 10 are more central.
These open days are enjoyable social events during which gardeners share tips. Visitors can add to the pleasure of the event by having some inner fortification at the Getafix Garden Café in the Botanical Garden in Caledon Street.
