GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu police are investigating a murder after a man, Lukhaniyo Mfengu (37), succumbed to a gunshot wound in hospital yesterday, Sunday 29 May.
The shooting happened at approximately 06:45 in Lukhanyo Street, Zone 6.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach. He was transported to hospital in a critical condition where he later died.
On the same morning a badly assaulted man, who still has to be identified, was found near a river in the same area. He was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. “The circumstances of this incident are under investigation and it still needs to be confirmed whether these incidents are related,” said Pojie.
No arrests have been made.
