GEORGE NEWS - No arrests have been made after 19-year old Luzuko Makuykwe was stabbed to death in Thembalethu, George, on Sunday. Makuykwe and three peers were attacked in Qhawa Street, Zone 9 at about 04:30 on Sunday 6 December.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the four young friends were escorting a female friend home when they were allegedly attacked by four suspects armed with sharp objects.
Makuykwe was declared dead on arrival at the hospital and his three friends were all admitted with serious injuries.
"The suspects allegedly stopped their vehicle next to the group of youngsters after which they blindly directed several stabs at the victims. All four sustained several stab wounds and were admitted to hospital. Unfortunately one of the boys was declared dead on arrival at the hospital," Pojie said.
He could not confirm whether the attack was gang-related.
"At this stage no arrests have been made and the motive is being investigated."
