GEORGE NEWS - Dr Michelle Gratz will fill the position of acting municipal manager from 1 January 2021, until such time when the position is filled permanently. The decision was taken last Friday 11 December during a Special Council Meeting closed to the public and media.
In the interim, the director of Protection Services. Steven Erasmus, will hold the reigns as acting municipal manager up to 31 December.
“Dr Gratz, a resident of George, is eminently qualified, having worked at George Municipality for 12 years before serving as Municipal Manager at Mossel Bay Municipality for seven years. She meets the prescribed competency requirements for the position,” said Municipal Spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose.
Allen Paulse is to be appointed as the acting director of Community Services from 1 January 2021. “He has had 18 years’ experience as a municipal manager,” said Edwards-Klose.
In the interim, Shanold Marillac, Senior Manager of Community Services, will act in the position until 31 December 2020.
