GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route District Municipality's new chief financial officer, Jan-Willem de Jager, will take office tomorrow, Friday 1 March. He replaces Louise Hoek, who will henceforth manage the budget and treasury office, annual financial statements and assets. Comment on the reason for this change of seats has not been received.
De Jager is a qualified chartered accountant and member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica). He has extensive local and international experience in strategic and financial management, working in both the private and public sectors. De Jager held the position of chief audit executive at GRDM since August 2015, focusing on improving governance, controls and risk management processes across all departments.
"I am grateful for this opportunity to join the senior management team of GRDM in delivering on the ambitious objectives and vision of Council for the benefit of the people of the Garden Route district," said De Jager.
Former CFO, Louise Hoek, will fill a managerial post in the finance department.
