GEORGE NEWS - The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) would like to inform the public of a scheduled road closure on the N2 in George on Monday night, 12 November.
As from 19:00 on Monday, until 06:00 on Tuesday, a portion of the N2 between the Sandkraal and Kraaibosch (George Mall) interchanges will be closed to facilitate the cross-over of traffic from the East Bound Carriageway onto the West Bound Carriageway. This diversion of traffic is to allow the placing of beams for a new pedestrian bridge.
The works necessitating the brief closure involves the removal and modification of road markings, and was specifically scheduled for lower traffic volumes at night time.
An alternate route is available and demarcated via the town of George.
“We will endeavour to complete the work and open the road as quickly as possible, and we appeal to the public to be patient during this process. SANRAL apologises for the inconvenience and will keep road users informed of the progress made, with regard to this upgrade project, which will ultimately result in an improved and safer road experience for all road users, including pedestrians ” said Randall Cable, SANRAL’s Western Region Manager.
