GEORGE NEWSFLASH - A Sedgefield motorbiker died in the Outeniqua Pass during what would have been his usual Sunday outing with a group of motorbike friends.
He lost control of his BMW GS motor bike and is believed to have had a blackout. His girlfriend, who was a pillion rider (sitting on the back), was taken to hospital with light injuries.
According to a long time friend Eddie Trauschweizer he became worried when he looked around and did not see his friend. Upon turning back he found his friend next to the road in the cement area after he had careened over a grassy verge.
He had had a medical procedure 3 weeks ago and had been suffering from heart problems for 3 years.
"We just want to say that this was not a speed accident and think it is more likely that he had a blackout. He was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed life and was on his way home from having a pizza up in Waboomskraal when the accident happened just after the turn off to the Montagu Pass."
The accident took place at about 12:00.
