GEORGE NEWS - The motive for the fatal shooting of a Thembalethu man, Vuyani Patric Wonci (53), who was killed in Makeleni Street, Zone 9 on Monday evening, is still unknown.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the victim was on his way home from a tavern when he was accosted by two unknown suspects at approximately 20:00 on Monday evening, 20 June.
One of the suspects, who was carrying a firearm, opened fire and shot Wonci twice in the back of his head.
He succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by paramedics on the scene. An autopsy will be conducted this week.
It is believed that Wonci was a bouncer at a nightclub in town.
