GEORGE NEWS - A young mother (29) from Thembalethu who allegedly intentionally set her home in Zone 9 on fire with her five-year-old daughter and her own mother (60) locked inside is scheduled to make her first court appearance today, Wednesday 22 November.
She is facing charges of murder and arson after her daughter and mother died in the blaze.
The horrific incident occurred in Yawani Street in the early hours of Monday morning, 20 November.
It is believed that the mother lit the house on fire by using candles before she locked the doors and walked off.
Police responded to the scene where they found human remains of the woman and the toddler in the debris.
