GEORGE NEWS - The management of Meals on Wheals Community Services (MOWCS) enjoyed an extra special Spring Day yesterday, with a visit from the Director-General of the Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town, David Yintso Lin, and Assistant Director Douglas Chang.
The small delegation met at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Loerie Park from where the George branch cooks daily meals and provides food parcels for three schools, 120 elderly beneficiaries, 40 crèches and several institutions such as the George Night Shelter and children's homes.
The consulate made a recent donation of R45 000 ($3 000) to Meals on Wheels George, supporting the provision of food security. Their planned visit to George had to be postponed a few times due to the pandemic. Management of Meals on Wheels George had a great time yesterday showing their donators how the organisation is run and how their donation helped to provide 40 000 meals in that particular month.
Lin said there is a good connection between MOWCS and the Taipei consulate. "It's an honour for me to make this connection and help people in need. We are like-minded people when it comes to human rights."
