GEORGE NEWS - Six people between the ages of 21 and 45 were arrested in the Pacaltsdorp area on Saturday 9 April on suspicion of illegal drug dealing, possession of dangerous weapons and illegal possession of drugs such as tik and Mandrax.
The Pacaltsdorp crime prevention unit took to the streets of Eden Park, Rosedale, Syferfontein and New Dawn Park - areas that are notorious for domestic violence and drug-related incidents.
All suspects were detained and scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court today, Monday 11 April.
In Friemersheim, Great Brak River, police confiscated 24 five-litre boxes of wine and 26 crates of beer from a suspect (61). The suspect was arrested and later released on a summons to pay an admission of guilt fine. He will appear in court on a later date.
A total of 340 suspects were arrested in the Eden District between Thursday 7 April and Sunday 10 April.
This weekend’s operations included high visibility blue light patrols in crime-stricken areas, stop and search operations with a special focus on drug and liquor outlets, illegal firearms, the tracing of wanted suspects and the confiscation of dangerous weapons.
Acting Eden Cluster Commander, Brigadier Belinda Pather, praised the members for their dedication to safeguard communities within their area.
