WILDERNESS NEWS - Police have opened a case of armed robbery after a man was attacked and robbed on the Wilderness beach on Friday 23 April at approximately 16:30.
According to the victim, André du Toit, an advocate from Bloemfontein who is visiting the area with his wife, he was on his way back to their guest house after walking on the beach in the area between the Wilderness Beach Hotel and Wilderness beach when he was approached and threatened by two young coloured men.
“They grabbed hold of me and threatened me. One of them was armed with a gun and a knife and stabbed me while the other grabbed my cellphone and they ran off,” he said.
While making his way back to his accommodation, a badly bleeding Du Toit came across two people on the beach who assisted him to safety.
Du Toit sustained a stab wound to the front of his body in the neck area near his collarbone. He was admitted to hospital and reported the incident to the police the following day. He was discharged from hospital yesterday, Sunday 25 April.
No arrests have been made.
