GEORGE NEWS - Being dramatic has always been an inherent trait of Keisha Louis (13) from Dellville Park in George. She recently made name for herself playing the role of Kittie Komoetie (Jnr) in the remake of Fiela se Kind.
This popular book by Daleen Mathee, set in the Karoo, will be screened in local cinemas from today, Friday 13 September.
Keisha says she and her mom, Dominique, took a chance last year when they heard a girl her age with curly hair was needed for this role. She spent about three weeks in Uniondale where the movie was shot. She has since had a few other offers.
Going to drama school is however not part of her plans as, she says, the producers believe it will change her natural performance.
Her dad, Alister, says they want her to stay as she is because she has such a natural feel for performing.

Keisha says she has learned that she can do things she never thought possible. "I feel more confident and in a way independent too." Travelling and being away from home gave her room to grow, but she always had a family member with her.
"I don't like to think about home and rarely call because I need to fully take on the character I'm going to play."
Being in the limelight has not changed Keisha and at home she is the sunny child she's always been. Granny Elise da Silva says she has not forgotten her manners and still shows respect.
Dad Alister says since Keisha has always done well in school, they could trust that even being away from school, she would keep up with her work.
